Spray Tan Home Care

Here at The Beauty Lounge I use NOUVATAN. Nouvatan was established in 2008 and they are now known as one of the most reputable and high end tanning companies both here in the UK and Europe. Nouvatan Professional Spray Tan Solutions contain 100% active organic ingredients and are alcohol and paraben free. Alcohol is regularly used in many solutions and is whats causes skin to feel dry. Available in 6 different shades to suit all skin types, from 8% up to our famous 20%.

To ensure you get the absolute best result from your treatment there are steps to follow prior to your tan aswell as afterwards, please read through the below.

Exfoliate 24 hours prior to treatment.

Moisturise the day before treatment, not on the day, as this can cause a barrier.

Allow all previous sunless tans to fade for approx 7 days prior to next treatment.

Shave/wax at least 24 hours prior to treatment

Remove all deodorants/perfumes/make-up the night before tanning and wear none of these on the day of the tan.

Wear loose, dark fitting clothing that you doesn't cling and that you don't mind getting tan on.

If possible wear flips flops, no boots, tights, trainers, thick socks.

Tan can sometimes stain underwear- wear old or use my disposables.

Eyelash/eyebrow tinting must be done at least 48 hours prior and post treatment (as tan can react with peroxide).

Failure to do the above can result in tan not taking correctly, patches and/or streaks.

During your tan you should expect the following.

I will talk to you about your desired colour and give advice on what may best suit your skin tone.

You will need to apply barrier cream to both hands and feet, and possible other areas of dry skin if needed, to prevent tan build up.

You will be provided with a hair net and paper pants if required.

I will ask you to remove as much or as little clothing as you like and you will stand in a pop up tent facing away from me.

You will be asked to place yourself in various positions to enable me to spray you evenly.

The tanning machine can be quite loud.

As the tan goes on it can be quite cold.

You should expect to be in the actual tent for no more than ten minutes.

You will be left and allowed a few moments for the tan to dry before getting dressed in your dark loose clothing.

Wash tan off after 6-8 hours. The tan can be slept in (provided you are aware it may stain your sheets) as when it gets to 8 hours it stops developing. Until this time you should avoid being caught in the rain, sweating and touching your face or body to prevent tan build up on hands.

Apply moisturiser morning and evening after you post tan shower.

Pat skin dry after showering instead of rubbing dry.

Take care when exercising, as heavy sweating may cause your tan to fade unevenly and prematurely.

Avoid long, hot showers/baths as well as visiting swimming pools and Jacuzzis for long periods of time.

Avoid waxing, preferably until tan had disappeared.

Remember that the spray tan does not have any SPF factor so you shall still need to apply sun protection as usual.  We advise oil free sun cream as oils break the DHA and will create an uneven tan.

I am always free to talk about any treatments and in some instances tan can be affected by certain medical conditions or medicines so please ask if you are unsure.
